Allen & Heath Qu Series - Working With Scenes & Shows

Qu provides 100 Scene memories. These store and recall a snapshot of all live mix settings. The Scenes screen displays a list of these, with the one currently selected highlighted. Touch the name box to name this scene, and Store to save the current mix settings to it. Select an existing scene and touch Recall to recall settings previously stored, or touch Clear to delete the scene contents and name. To duplicate a scene, press and hold the Copy key below the screen and touch the scene to copy, then press and hold Paste and touch the one to paste to. The Reset Mix Settings button provides a quick way to default the board to a typical starting point. To avoid accidental operation it must be touched for 1 second or more to action the reset. A Global Recall Filter can be set to protect chosen parameters for all channels from being overwritten when a scene is recalled. It is typical to protect your Custom Layer or SoftKeys assignment if you don’t wish these settings to change per-scene. A red dot appears in the tab if one or more items have been blocked. Firmware version V1.4 adds individual Recall Filters that can be set independently per scene. This allows creating dedicated Scenes for specific purposes, for example to change FX parameters only without affecting all other parameters. Similarly, you can make one or more input channels, FX and mixes ‘scene safe’ so that none of their parameters are overwritten when a scene is recalled. For example, your walk-in music channel. A blue dot appears in the tab if one or more channels have been made safe. All scenes, mixer settings and setup preferences can be stored into a Show for archiving or transferring between mixers. The Setup / USB Data / Shows screen displays a list of Shows found on the USB device. Touch Store New to name and store a new Show on the USB device. Select a Show in the USB list and touch Recall to overwrite the current settings with the contents of the Show. Existing USB Shows can be overwritten with the current settings and renamed. Each Show is stored as a set of data files within a numbered folder in the AHQU / SHOWS directory. If you want to archive the Show on your computer we recommend you copy the Show folder as it is. Do not edit, rename or change the format of the folder. To view the Show name, open its folder and open the SHOW.DAT text file. The USB Data Scenes tab displays a list of scenes stored in the mixer, and a list of those found on the USB device. You can use this to transfer individual scenes between Qu mixers without overwriting the current scenes and preferences.
