Colonial Dollhouse Renovation Part 3 - Exterior Siding and Roofing

Welcome to Week 3 of my colonial dollhouse remodel series! This week, I tackled the exterior siding and roofing. I’m using MDF lap siding sheets, cutting them by hand with scissors and an X-Acto knife, and securing them with wood glue, clamps, and tape. I’m also painting the exterior in Collard Greens by Dixie Belle Paint for a fresh look. In this update, I’ll walk you through the process of attaching siding to an already assembled dollhouse, which is a bit tricky, but works great! Afterward, I’ll show you the difference sanding makes before applying the final coat of paint—trust me, it’s worth the extra step! I also managed to finish the roof using budget-friendly shingle strips (linked below), installed the dormer windows, and completed the trim—though the hurricane here in Central Florida meant I had to do some of this off-camera. With over 100 hours invested in this project so far, I’d say I’m about 60% done with the remodel. Next up: designing and building the windows and doors!
