From theory to practice. Co-production in public health - Dr George Peat, Northumbria University

Dr George Peat from Northumbria University, was a guest speaker at the Fuse Public Involvement and Engagement Group on 11 June 2026. In this session, Dr Peat talked about how he believes the underpinning values/assumptions of co-production can be traced to the work of Paulo Freire (https://freire.org/paulo-freire), and how he applies these values to his work across several research projects. Most recently, he applied this on a project focused on co-designing solutions to social care for adults with neuromuscular conditions. This project was funded by the NIHR Three Schools Prevention Programme (https://sphr.nihr.ac.uk/prevention).
