日本製のキハで行くアユタヤ日帰り旅｜ドンムアン駅から古都へ

This time, I took a day trip from Don Mueang Station to Ayutthaya Station on a Japanese KiHa 40/48 series diesel railcar that now runs in Thailand. Don Mueang Station is located next to the airport and is also connected to the Red Line. From there, I boarded a Japanese-made train and traveled through the suburbs of Thailand toward the ancient capital of Ayutthaya. Inside the train, some Japanese signs from its former life in Japan still remain. Outside the window, however, the scenery is unmistakably Thailand. After arriving in Ayutthaya, I traveled by motorcycle taxi to visit several historic sites: Wat Mahathat, Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit, and Wat Chaiwatthanaram. Later, rain began to fall, so I decided to stop sightseeing a little earlier and return to the station. There, I spent a quiet moment taking shelter from the rain while waiting for the train. A Japanese train carrying memories of Japan now runs toward Thailand’s ancient capital. This is a quiet record of that slightly unusual day trip.
