Imagine that in this very video I show you the entire process... Add to all that the fact that it's made of 904L stainless steel, what Rolex calls OysterSteel. And finally, add that it's from a brand that most of you will remember, but many of you will be thinking disappeared years ago. A brand about which there is hardly any information, and what little there is is incorrect. In my childhood, I remember Micro as a very popular watch brand, perhaps because I lived in Galicia, where they were well-known. I had an alarm clock that I still have, and a quartz clock that I no longer have. The blue metal alarm clock, despite being very inexpensive and having been thrown on the floor several times, still works. The company was founded in 1953 in Madrid as Micro Técnica Española, the year in which there is evidence of the Micro trademark registration, although elsewhere the registration is attributed to 1956. They began producing wind-up alarm clocks with Swiss movement. All of them were manufactured in Spain (except for the movement). Starting in 1970, they also began making them with Asian movement. Around 1976-1977, Manuel Ferreiro, a sales representative for Thermidor (Comercial Ferreiro SA), bought Micro and moved its headquarters to the iconic "Edificio Micro" at Avenida Trueba 60 in Madrid. A building still owned by Ferreiro, who leases it, maintaining the historic clock and logo on its façade. In 1990, they added wristwatches with quartz movements to their catalog. It is said that back in 1995, Thermidor and Micro were the best-selling watch brands in Spain, with Micro even producing watches with gold or silver cases. By 2010, amid a general crisis in the watchmaking industry, including for Micro, the company had 15 employees. At that time, Relojes Micro had already purchased all assembled products, which accelerated its decline. Javier Andrade, a tiler and metal inspector, and Diego Camba are lifelong friends. Diego bought Sigüeiro's jewelry store in 2021. His mentor was the jewelry store owner. He went to Joya in Madrid, and Javier accompanied him and met Manuel. After several meetings, they realized that the Micro watches sold well in the watchmaking industry and lasted for many years (they had been given Micro watches by their grandparents while working in the fields). Javier currently runs the workshop, while Diego is in charge of sales operations.
