Japanese Gardening Taboo — I Broke It

Japanese Gardening Taboo — I Broke It | Waka Garden Vlog In Japan there is a seasonal rule called Doyo — for 18 days you are not supposed to touch the soil. An earth god is said to be visiting. I knew the rule. My weeds did not care. This vlog covers the Japanese Doyo tradition, why so many gardeners break the rule anyway, and what a Shinto priest's grandson had to say that made everything okay. Doyo comes four times a year — spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The earth god even has a different location each season. In spring? The kitchen. Not the garden. Subtitles in English. No narration — just the garden, the weeds, and the story. #JapaneseGarden #GardenVlog #Doyo #JapaneseGardening #Gardening #WakaGarden #GardenLife #Weeding #JapanGarden #GardeningTaboo
