My Visit to the First Concentration Camp in Germany
Dachau Concentration Camp is located on the grounds of an abandoned munitions factory northeast of the medieval town of Dachau, about 16 km (10 mi) northwest of Munich in the state of Bavaria, in southern Germany. 41500 prisoners were murdered at this camp. The main camp was liberated by U.S. forces on 29 April 1945 It is about a 45-minute train ride from Munich. You take a train to Dachau from Munich central station and then take a bus from Dachau train station to Dachau Concentration Camp. The whole journey takes approximately 45 minutes. There is no admission fee to enter the camp. However, if you want to join a guided tour, you might pay a small fee. The guided tour takes about 3 hours. Check the official website before your visit to check what time the guided tour starts.
