Druski’s BET Awards church skit was funny because it was familiar. In this follow-up breakdown, I’m showing the real-life pastors and pulpit pimps Druski’s skit exposed. These are the men who tell people, “I don’t care what bills you have due, pay your tithe.” These are the men who publicly shame people for not tithing. These are the men who tell people facing eviction to give the prophet $1,000 and call it faith. But what does the Bible actually teach about Christian giving? The New Testament pattern is clear: Christian giving is voluntary, cheerful, generous, proportionate, purposeful, accountable, and never coerced. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7, ESV So today, we are comparing biblical giving with pulpit pimpery. Giving is biblical. Manipulation is not. Supporting faithful ministry is biblical. Fleecing the flock is not. Generosity is biblical. Threatening people with curses to get their money is not.
