"The Man Holds the Door Open For Me" by Sheila J Sadr
Sheila J Sadr (she/they) is a first-generation Iranian-American writer, spoken word artist, and educator whose work has been featured by the United Nations, TEDx, LACMA, and many other gems. She is a two-time finalist for the Stories Award for Poetry, winning in 2018 with their debut book, Birthday Girl. They will be an M.F.A. candidate in Creative Writing at Arizona State University beginning this fall. Sheila is currently exploring the wild intersections of grief, identity, friendship, and self-compassion.
