Skills: Buddycheck

Something many divers neglect is the buddy check. Many believe that because they're so experienced, they always remember everything and therefore don't need to do it. Another reason is that the dive guide creates a sense of urgency, leading to skipping this important pre-dive step. Everyone makes mistakes or forgets things, so it's good to double-check something as crucial as the proper functioning of your dive equipment. Another benefit is that if you have a dive buddy with unfamiliar equipment, you'll become familiar with it and be better equipped to help your buddy in case of an emergency.
