By the sign of the holy cross, deliver us from our enemies, Lord our God. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Act of Contrition My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, my Creator, Father, and Redeemer, because You are who You are, my infinite Goodness, and because I love You above all things, I grieve with all my heart for having offended You. I grieve also because You may punish me with the pains of hell. With the help of Your divine grace, I firmly resolve never to sin again, to go to confession, and to fulfill the penance imposed on me. Amen. Prayer for Every Day O God, who for love of us has sent us Your Divine Son as our Savior and Redeemer, we ask that through the merits of Your childhood, our faith may increase and we may abound in good works. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. FIFTH DAY The Word of God "After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. When they saw him, they were amazed, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I were searching for you in anguish. He said to them, "Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father's house?" But they did not understand the answer he gave them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. His mother kept all these things carefully in her heart. "Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." (Luke 2:46-52) Reflection The holy family is the model for Christian families: parents should not only provide food, clothing, and instruction. of their children; but rather, let them bear in mind that they are their educators, especially in the faith. Teach them to fulfill their duties toward God and toward their neighbors. Children, for their part, following the example of the Child Jesus, should have affection for their parents and be docile to their teachings so that they may become good citizens and good Christians. Purpose I will strive to ensure that the love and understanding that reigned in the home of the Child Jesus may reign in my home. Community Prayer Through Jesus, let us make our petitions to God our Lord: That the virtues of the Child Jesus may flourish in our homes. Hear us, Lord. That, if God deems it appropriate, he may grant us the grace we ask for in this novena. Hear us, Lord. (Other petitions may be added.) Joys Chorus O Divine Child, my God and Lord, you will be the master of my heart. Verses Here in your Sanctuary with faith and Prayer, we all ask for our conversion. Young and old, in a grand procession, we come joyfully to make an offering to you. All the young, with great persuasion, radiant with longing, go to the Savior. May our families, like Nazareth, know his great virtues. May the Lord command us to love everyone, with all the strength with which we love God. May I, at the end of my life, with your protection, have the joy of my salvation. Final Prayer: O Jesus, bless our families so that parents may be more responsible for their delicate mission and that greater love and understanding may reign between parents and children. Amen.
