Mio Link Heart Rate strap review

Coach Todd of http://nolimitstriathlon.com took the mio link HR strap for a testdrive for a week. Two tests were completed. One on the bike using a trainer and one run outside at -3degrees C. Results: When the mio monitor lost connectivity with the skin the HR results were high. During the indoor session on the bike the average HR was exactly the same as measured using a chest strap HR monitor. There was quite a bit of variability during the outside run. The mio strap appeared to be in good placement on the arm so uncertain why the values were off. A possible reason could be the cold or the strap was not making a good skin connection. Was movement due to running the cause of slipping and error. Uncertain. If the strap could maintain a good skin connection and maintain HR values I feel this would be a great alternative to the chest HR strap. More testing and practice needs to be done. Let me know how you find your HR values with the mio link HR strap during your training. Especially over longer distances. Hope you enjoyed the review and if you have any insights into the differences in the run data please let me know. Thanks and Happy Training! Coach Todd
