“Mi año de sexo y relajación”, de Romina Pistolas (Penguin Random House)

Romina Pistolas is a Chilean woman, raised in Calbuco, who lived for years in Australia, where she worked as a stripper. That experience gave rise to her book, "Carmen, or How I Started in the Business of Dancing Without Clothes," which made her a publishing phenomenon and led her to be described as one of the most controversial figures in the current literary scene. In her new book, "My Year of Sex and Relaxation," Romina revisits writings from her blog, where she not only portrays her sexual encounters and disappointments with the now-literary characters Pololo and Jota, but also narrates—as she herself notes—her attempt to experience a fulfilling sexual relationship, failing time and time again, but finally connecting with her emotions. The author of "Carmen" also addresses mental health, family patterns, her diverse reading habits and favorite books, as well as what it means to undress oneself internally, something that goes far beyond simply taking off one's clothes.
