Traditional Rice Grinding (Memei Thamthao) presented by Wui Menyiu Hoikam at 6th KMH Session Kingniu

(Memei Thamthao) Traditional Rich Rice Grinding performed by Wui Menyiu Hoikam at Kingniu Village was one of the meaningful highlights of the 6th Apin Ngiokam & 16th Executive Ngiokam of Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam, held from 23rd–24th April 2026 under the inspiring theme: “Eh-lung nüso yanku, ajeiai nai” (Beyond Boundaries Towards Unity). The performance beautifully reflected the rich cultural heritage of the Khiamniungan community. Thamthao, the traditional method of rice grinding, symbolizes diligence, cooperation, and the important role of women in sustaining family and community life. Through graceful coordination, rhythmic movements, and traditional attire, the women of Wui Menyiu Hoikam brought to life the wisdom and practices of past generations. More than a cultural display, the presentation carried a deeper message of unity and togetherness. Just as rice grinding requires collective effort and harmony, the performance echoed the event’s theme of crossing barriers and moving forward as one people. Held in the warm atmosphere of Kingniu Village, the program became a proud reminder that preserving traditions strengthens identity, while unity builds a stronger future for generations to come.
