Teaching the Kickback Stand
In this video clip I am teaching the Stand for Examine, for competition obedience Novice classes. For the first time ever I used my I-Pad and the picture is farther away than I wanted, sorry! I start off by showing how I get my dog to do a kickback stand. Notice that I am using gutters to keep Mighty from swinging his rear out and building muscle memory for this position. I then show how I keep my dog from following me when I do the walk around behind and return to heel position. Mighty tends to be a bit fidgety and was getting into a habit of moving a foot one or two inches only when I left him. So I next show you what I did to problem solve this issue. Enjoy and I hope it helps with your teaching.
