The meeting took place after Medvedev attended a memorial service for Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Tehran on Friday (July 3). During the meeting, Medvedev expressed his condolences to the Iranian government and people on the passing of Ali Khamenei. Medvedev also stated that, amidst the current atmosphere of mourning, the Iranian people have remained united and have not succumbed to external pressure. In a video released by Viory on Saturday (July 4), Medvedev expressed optimism that Iran will be able to overcome this situation and ultimately achieve victory. "We share the Iranian people's condolences on the tragic and heroic death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei, and we share your sorrow," he explained. "However, this grief has united the Iranian people, who have not succumbed to the pressure orchestrated by the United States and other interfering countries. They have stood firm in this struggle, and, I am confident, will ultimately prevail," he continued.
