Evolution of YOGI BEAR - 65 Years Explained | CARTOON EVOLUTION

CARTOON EVOLUTION #35 I take a look at the history and evolution of Yogi Bear the smarter-than-average, pic-a-nic basket stealing bear, created by mega-producers William Hanna and Joe Barbera in 1958. Originally debuting in The Huckleberry Hound Show, Yogi was a runaway success – even outshining the popularity of Huckleberry himself. As the first ever breakout animated character, Yogi was given his own show in 1961 – going on to headline more than 10 television series, and star in half a dozen direct-to-video and television movies, and two theatrical films, as one of Hanna-Barbera’s most popular and heavily utilised characters. In 2023, Yogi Bear celebrates 65 years, and to help him, I will trace his entire evolution, from 1958 to now. To do so, we will look at the character’s entire history, touching on his various changes and influences over more than six decades of series, specials, feature films, and expanded media – even touching on the early cartoons that heavily inspired his creation.
