Pointing Dog's Bird Introduction | Sawyer the GSP

Today we introduced Sawyer the GSP to quail. He is 14 weeks old at the time of this video. This was his first close encounter with any birds. He's only seen a few robins in the yard. After a slow start while he figured out what was going on, I released the birds 1 at a time so he could see them fly and get some scent under his nose. Once he got the picture, he was all over the scent and kind of came to life as a bird dog, pretty cool. It would have been much easier with another person! Filming and doing this by yourself is not recommended. But I think he got the idea had some really good form and style on his points. ** Disclaimer - I am an amateur weekend dog trainer.
