LE SHUTTLE from the UK to France - First time rider HINTS and TIPS

This was my first time on the Channel Tunnel, recently rebranded 'Le Shuttle'. You need to have your Booking reference number handy when you get to the first gates both in Folkstone and Calais. The touch screens they use are rubbish, slow and unresponsive. Depending upon when you arrive, and what train you are due to catch, the system may offer you an earlier train, either for free or a small fee. On the way back I got onto an earlier train for free. There is a terminal, a bit like an airport terminal, where you can get duty free, a bite to eat and tea and coffee. Loos there too. Its good. Big screens show you which train they are loading, which corresponds to your boarding number. There are small toilets on the train, but nothing else. Its a 30 minute journey.
