Piatti pronti... a prezzi stracciatissimi | Patti Chiari | RSI Info

Spaghetti carbonara? 2.80 francs… spaghetti bolognese? 2.45 francs… a sweet and sour Asian dish of rice and chicken? 2.45 francs… anyone offering less? These are some of the truly unbeatable prices for ready-made meals now available on the shelves of Ticino's major supermarkets. And consuming them requires minimal effort: a few minutes in the microwave and the meal is ready. It's no coincidence that in recent years—as confirmed by major distributors—the selection has expanded and the success of these products has grown: from pasta to rice, from meat to fish to vegetables… you're spoiled for choice. The Test But what about quality? To answer this question, Patti Chiari relied on two experts who know a thing or two about taste and nutrition: Viviana Lapertosa, a chef, and Giovanni Angelucci, a journalist and food critic for Gambero Rosso. In total, ranging from classic Italian pasta dishes to Asian dishes and typically Swiss specialties, the two judges tasted 15 ready-made meals purchased from Migros, Coop, Aldi, Denner, Lidl, and Manor, judging each one's appearance, quantity, balance of ingredients, aroma, and taste. The final result? Far from flattering: out of 15 ready-made meals, only three passed the test. The other 12 failed, and eight even failed significantly, with final scores below 4 out of 10.
