Did CoolSculpting Disfigure Linda Evangelista? | 208SkinDoc

CoolSculpting is the most popular body contouring modality on the market. It is popular because the procedure is non-invasive and for the vast majority of people who undergo the procedure, they see results. Like any cosmetic procedure, the results are not guaranteed, there are risks and side effects. The most common adverse event is just that the procedure doesn't work; a small percentage of people may not respond to treatment. The more dreaded complication is a condition known as Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia. This is when the fat cells in the area treated can actually enlarge. Additional treatments of coolsculpting will not resolve this condition and must be treated by traditional liposuction. This side effect is more common in men but remains very rare. The original CoolSculpting machine had a slightly higher incidence of P.A.H. than the newer updated machines. Treating an area on the body too frequently without adequate healing time may increase the risk of PAH.
