Grounding and Letting Go

During the fall season (and always) we can turn to the aspects of Grounding and Letting Go in our meditation practice. The Zen teacher Hakuin encouraged his students to fill the belly (the hara) with energy and attention and to strengthen the legs as well. We can think of optimal health happening when the lower body is full and empowered and the upper body is light and open. Letting go happens when we're present and allowing things to flow through our being without us grabbing onto them. Like the leaves falling from the trees.
