These symptoms must be persistent and impair the individual's social, academic, and occupational functioning. Epidemiologically, the disorder affects between 2% and 6% of the developmental population, with a prevalence in males approximately three times higher than in females. The disorder persists into adulthood in approximately half of cases, with an estimated prevalence of 2.5%. The etiology is complex and multifactorial, including genetic, neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and acquired environmental factors. Diagnosis is strictly clinical and requires a multidisciplinary evaluation. ADHD is highly comorbid, with 89% of patients presenting with one or more associated disorders. The most effective therapeutic approach is a combined (or multimodal) one, integrating pharmacotherapy, psychoeducational and behavioral interventions, parent training, and teacher training. Finally, sports activities such as judo, karate, and rugby are considered valuable tools for strengthening self-control, attention, and respect for rules. ______________________________________ "ADHD in Children and Adults: Awareness and Multimodal Interventions" is the conference organized by AIFA APS, the Italian Association of ADHD Families, in collaboration with the Careggi University Hospital in Florence.
