[VLDC15] Why He Blue (why are you blue?) - Blind Playthrough
Author: MrUg123 Right when I saw the name of Captain 3 on the title screen in music credits, I thought one of the songs used (namely level music) would be Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee). Instead, I got SiivaGunnered, just like on the title screen. I have no idea why that mashup of SMW Athletic theme and Witch Doctor was used in this level, which is set in a cave. While the main theme sounds promising (usage of a couple blue things) and there are some ideas behind it, I noticed some awkwardness in setups. While there's a part which isn't essential to level completion, i.e. with multiple clouds (in both directions) and the multiple coin block, there's also a quite cramped section right after the beginning. I don't know what you need the two shells for in between these two segments. Right after the multiple coin block part, I was almost scared that drop would be blind, but happily, everything was alright. I feel more could've been done with the color blue itself (such as adding other blue things or spicing up things some more with already existing blue blocks/sprites). I'm sure this could be a really good level if some stuff got improved and the already existing good things (such as shell-kicking Koopas right after the 2nd Dragon Coin or right after the checkpoint) about it were kept. Of course, when I was checking many pipes for exits, I didn't do that with the one that's pretty easy to miss when you go invincible. The section I missed included a single throw block to pass to the buff Koopa so he could kick it and grow you the vine leading you to the missing Yoshi coin and a fire flower atop of the sublevel. However, that gap between the two skinny pipes where you're supposed to drop the throw block, and space between the entrance/exit pipe and that gap were very tight. Not much of a deal, though, cuz you can reset the section, which isn't all that vital to completion, either. Also, the message at the end was pretty mean while having next to no substance to the level itself (not that the first one also did). BTW, this is definitely standard. In this series, I will be playing levels from SMW Central's Vanilla Level Design Contest 2026. All playthroughs of standard levels will stay blind, albeit their respective videos will be edited in case I feel a need to cut them. This means that I only play the levels for the first time while capturing footage. However, an exception will be made for kaizo entries. After I've played them blind first, I'll record their replays and only leave successful attempts. Super Mario World belongs to Nintendo. I don't own the game itself nor do I monetize its contents. This video wasn't made for business anyway and its sole purpose is showoff and entertainment.
