They will defend the company at all costs while it’s obvious Nintendo doesn’t care about them. Nintendo has been greedy for years and the fans keep letting them get away with it. Game key cards with no actual games on them, $70 spin off Pokemon games exclusive for the Switch 2, and a miniature Gameboy music player that only functions as decoration. Grown men are spending their life savings to buy junk that will sit on their shelf. But when someone calls Nintendo out, they will fight back with explanations like they’re doing for free PR for them. The problem isn’t that Nintendo makes bad games. A lot of them are genuinely great and so many people grew up playing them. The community self identifies with the company like a cult, and Nintendo has figured out how to monetize it. It’s all about “exclusivity” and nostalgia. The fans who grew up with these games aren’t acting like consumers anymore. Being a “fan” has turned into a personality trait. The most anti-consumer company of all time has the most die hard fans and there are no consequences for it.
