In this episode, we sit down with Mat Wright, MBE, Founder and Artistic Director of Barnsley Youth Choir (BYC). According to the UK’s Office for National Statistics, Barnsley, located in Yorkshire, is one of the communities with the lowest household income in England. Despite this, Mat has built BYC into a choir that connects young people through music and has won numerous international awards. He firmly believes that access to quality music education is a right, not a privilege, and that it plays a vital role in young people’s development.
