Der Alpe Adria Radweg | Von Salzburg über die Alpen ans Mittelmeer nach Grado | Etappe 6

Here you can see the sixth stage of our fascinating Transalp tour on the Alpe Adria Cycle Path. The journey leads from Salzburg across the main Alpine ridge to Grado on the Mediterranean coast. We've divided this breathtaking Alpine crossing into seven days of cycling, making it suitable for everyone, and we'll show you a video for each stage. The sixth stage starts in Carnia, still in the heart of the Eastern Alps. Our first destination is the historic town of Venzone. This charming little town carries a heavy burden, as two earthquakes in 1976 caused almost all of its buildings to collapse. However, through painstaking effort, the town was restored and rebuilt, and today it shines more beautifully than ever. We then follow the fabulously turquoise waters of the wild Tagliamento River further south. After a few kilometers, we reach Osoppo with its magnificent old fortress dating back to the 14th century. After a short visit, we leave the mountains behind and cycle down into the plains. We'll travel along beautiful, quiet country roads, almost entirely free of traffic, to our destination for the day: Udine.
