Allegations of a possible “black deal” between ganja mafia and police are now being widely discussed. According to reports, Kantamal Police intercepted the truck near Udepur on the Kantamal-Ghantapada road on suspicion of ganja smuggling. The vehicle was later brought near the police station, around four kilometres away, where it has remained parked since yesterday. Locals suspect that the truck contains hundreds of quintals of ganja. The truck reportedly came from Phulbani and bears a Madhya Pradesh registration number. Questions are being raised as to why police have neither conducted a formal inspection in the presence of a magistrate nor disclosed any details about the vehicle or its contents.
