Leopard 46 unbiased review / walk through

We are still dealing with Leopard Catamarans regarding the Warranty items that are still a problem and have been since leaving Cape Town on the 12 September 2023 and embarking on our Atlantic crossing: One of the items has been that ALL Lewmar portlights have failed terribly on our Leopard 50 catamaran! Lewmar windows are of such poor quality that they simply crumble and turn to dust. Leopard is aware of this issue, and they know that every time they supply Lewmar portlights (which is on every one of their boats), they burden their customers with significant problems—one significant problem per window. Additionally, failing windows/portlights on an ocean-going vessel pose a significant safety risk. Leopard informed us that when we arrive at their site in Florida in Oct/Nov 2023, they will exchange all 11 Lewmar portlights for replacements sent by Lewmar, which will all also fail. There is barely any point but they refuse to take full ownership of the problem that every Leopard Catamaran and Lewmar customer experiences Regarding the remaining Leopard warranty issues on our Leopard 50, UTOPIA, now that we have arrived in the USA, Leopard Catamarans has told us they will be ready for us on the Leopard dock in Florida to complete the outstanding warranty issues. To say that dealing with Leopard Catamarans has been challenging, in so far as Leopard’s warranty is concerned, is a gross understatement. We have spent the few months trying to get them to review and understand the small remaining approvals. Leopard Catamarans need to shed the bureaucracy and take action on the repairs and refunds. The biggest issue has been the lack of communication and indeed really poor communication. These problems can be experienced on a Leopard 42, Leopard 45 as well as any Leopard Catamaran. In fact, they could potentially happen on a Lagoon catamaran or Bali catamaran, or a Fontein Pajot catamaran or any other yacht for that matter. So, if you are planning to attend the upcoming Annapolis boat show, especially to see a Leopard catamaran, please speak to your yacht broker. Most of these are known issues, and we hope this info will help you avoid drama and disaster during your ocean passages. We still have issues with our Raymarine navigation equipment and a Flir camera failure. Flir warranty and Raymarine warranty support have been non-existent. We will keep all updates on Leopards behaviour fully reported on YouTube and will do our best to keep it all as accurate and truthful as possible.
