Boating to the Bahamas: Crossing the Gulf Stream & Checking In

After two long years away, we are finally crossing the Gulf Stream and heading back to the Bahamas! In this episode, we leave West Palm Beach at sunrise and make our way across to West End, Grand Bahama. The crossing starts out calm, but the Gulf Stream eventually gives us a little chop, and we still have one big job waiting for us: clearing into the Bahamas by boat. We walk through the Click2Clear process, the paperwork, customs, immigration, cruising permits, fees, and what it’s really like checking in at West End. It can be a little cumbersome, but once you’re finally anchored in that beautiful Bahamian water, it all feels worth it. Of course, no trip would be complete without a little anchor drama. We end up wrapped around a rock, but somehow we’re holding perfectly… so naturally, we decide not to question it. From the Gulf Stream crossing to customs, anchoring, tiki bars, cracked conch, and sundowners, this is the start of another Bahamas adventure aboard our Hatteras.
