TunaEspaña is honored to have been invited by the Toledo Cathedral Chapter to participate in its 800th anniversary celebrations. Friday, May 29, 2026 Following the solemn procession of the Crystal Rosary through the streets of Toledo, TunaEspaña will be ready to perform on the City Hall balcony, opposite the main entrance of the Cathedral. After the Salve Regina, TunaEspaña will begin their performance on the balcony with lively Tuna songs. The festivities will continue with a fireworks display and a "Battle" of bells from all the churches, monasteries, and convents of Toledo. TunaEspaña is a worldwide association of former university students (intergenerational), born in the last eight decades. Yesterday they were students; today they are graduates, PhDs, and professors (professionals from a wide variety of fields: doctors, lawyers, judges, architects, notaries, tax inspectors, economists, vice-rectors, deans, veterinarians, engineers, pharmacists, diplomats, journalists, chemists, physicists, fine artists, philologists, etc.) who bring life to the Spanish university. Its members come from diverse faculties of numerous Spanish and Latin American universities, welcoming those who wish to keep the centuries-old tradition of the tuna alive. Currently, the group has over 850 members, with representation in Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, China, and Latin American brothers and sisters from 11 countries (Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay). In December 2013, the High Commissioner of the Government for the Spain Brand, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, declared "TunaEspaña" an "Institution of Interest for the Spain Brand," stating in the designation that "TunaEspaña cultivates and promotes the values ​​that the Spain Brand encourages and sponsors, thus constituting a valuable contribution to the promotion of Spain's image, both within and beyond our borders, and therefore declares TunaEspaña an Institution of Interest for the Spain Brand." On October 18, 2017, Correos (the Spanish postal service) issued a stamp dedicated to "TunaEspaña"—the first time in history that Correos has issued a stamp dedicated to the Tuna, and specifically to "TunaEspaña"! The Tuna is one of the many traditions that Spain has given to the world. It is one of the oldest university traditions in the world.
