(Summary) 8:57 Spring 2023 Question 45 - Past Exam Questions ▼Contents In this video, we'll explain "project management." First, let's review the meaning of "project" in this term. Project A project is an undertaking to achieve a specific goal within a deadline. Projects have two characteristics: It has a deadline and the deliverable is a unique product or service. For example, "wedding preparations" can be considered a project because it has a deadline ("setting the date") and a unique deliverable ("wedding"). System development can also be considered a project because a different system is created each time by a deadline. When the word "project" is used in exams, it almost always refers to system development. The team organized to achieve the project's objectives is called a "project team." A "project team" is made up of "project members" and a "project manager." Project members are people with specialized knowledge who actually carry out the project. A project manager is someone who manages the project. The work performed by a project manager is called "project management." Project Management Project management involves managing a project to achieve its objectives by adjusting the three factors of "scope," "schedule," and "cost." Scope refers to the range of work. Scope management involves determining the extent of the work and the extent of the deliverable to be created, and then managing to ensure that those scopes are adhered to. A schedule refers to a deadline. Schedule management involves planning the project's completion deadline and managing progress. Cost refers to expenses. Cost management involves creating a budget and controlling the project's expenses. A project must maintain a balance between these three constraints. If you want to change one constraint, you must adjust at least one of the other two constraints to achieve a balance. For example, if you want to reduce costs, you need to either extend the schedule or reduce the scope. Next, let's look at what is managed in project management. Objects of Project Management Project managers manage many objects. These objects can be divided into 10 groups. Let's take a look at each of these. Integration. Integration involves making adjustments to the entire project. For example, if it becomes difficult to complete the project by the deadline, consider whether to change the scope or allocate resources. Scope. Scope refers to the range of work. Decide how much work will be done and how much of the deliverable will be created, and manage whether that scope is being adhered to. Schedule. A schedule is a deadline. Plan the deadline for completing the project and manage progress. Cost. Cost. Cost. Expenses. Create a budget and manage the costs required for the project. Stakeholders. Stakeholders are those with an interest in the project. Identify stakeholders and make arrangements to ensure their effective participation in the project. Anyone who could benefit or be harmed by the project is a stakeholder. For example, in the case of a systems development project, anyone who could benefit or be harmed in any way by the project is a stakeholder, including the management of the company ordering the development, the system users, the project manager and project members of the development project, and personnel from companies that have been outsourced to carry out part of the development. Quality. Quality is managed to ensure the quality of the project's deliverables. For example, this involves reviewing whether the deliverables have been created according to procedures, and conducting tests to compare the desired quality with the actual quality. Resources. Resources involve managing human and physical resources. Human resource management involves determining the roles and skills of personnel needed for a project and assembling and managing a project team. Physical resource management involves identifying resources needed for a project, such as equipment, facilities, and tools. Communication. Communication involves managing who communicates what to whom, when, how, and how. Risk. Risk involves identifying project risks, determining countermeasures, and addressing any issues that arise. Procurement. Procurement involves acquiring the people, goods, and services needed to execute a project. Now, let's introduce the "WBS," which clarifies the project scope and is also useful for estimating schedules and costs. WBS WBS is the division of a large project into smaller units ...
