Karlakattai | The Ancient Indian Strength and Conditioning System
Last year I visited this really special place in Chennai called Gods Warrior. The owner is a wonderful and knowledgable person that has been teaching karlakattai for 20 years. Meeting him was a fresh breath of air, since there are not that many people that teach karla kattai. Karlakattai means 'strong wood' and it's an Indian strength and conditioning system that specialises in training with wooden clubs, karla, or mudgar. They also use wooden Gada's like Hanumans Gada. This was a really special visit and I'm excited for you to see more of this, since it's not well documented. The practice is still there and luckily there are different approaches and perspectives.
