Saunders Peninsula Layout Tour

The Saunders Peninsula is one of several important areas on the 5,000 square foot HO Scale model train layout of the North Metro Model Railroad Club (NMMRC). It is both unique and typical of the many features of Minnesota's largest model train layout. Unique in that it features the dramatic Kettle River Bridge and a stunning railroad bridge over it, a sandstone quarry, an underground mine, and a logging camp and lumber operation as well as towering forests of pine. It's typical because it provides numerous switching and operations opportunities and is a gateway to other areas of the layout including Duluth, Brainerd, and Rush City. It also includes some fascinating small structures.
