Namibia's Most Incredible Landscapes | Sandwich Harbour & Deadvlei

Could there be a place where the ocean and the desert meet face to face? In this second episode of our photographic expedition through Namibia, we discover some of the most spectacular landscapes on the African continent, traveling along the Atlantic coast until we reach Sandwich Harbor, one of those unique corners of the planet where the gigantic dunes of the Namib Desert drop straight down to the ocean. Our adventure begins as we set course for Walvis Bay, where the landscape changes radically from the first episode. We leave the Spitzkoppe Mountains behind to enter a wild landscape dominated by Atlantic fog, endless beaches, and immense golden sand dunes that make Sandwich Harbor one of Namibia’s most breathtaking places. We then head into the heart of the Namib Desert—the world’s oldest desert—to visit two of its most iconic sites: Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. We climb some of the tallest dunes on the planet, marvel at the legendary petrified acacia trees surrounded by a sea of red sand, and observe wildlife perfectly adapted to one of Africa’s most extreme environments. When night falls, the show continues. We’ll take advantage of Namibia’s extraordinary clear skies for another astrophotography session, capturing the Milky Way under one of the darkest and clearest skies in the world—an experience every landscape photographer dreams of having at least once in their lifetime.
