Oahu Trip 2026: Relaxing Night Walk Through Waikiki's International Market Place

We're back in Oahu-our favorite destination. We ended up staying at Waikiki Banyan for the first couple days (eventually transferring to Ala Moana Hotel). Hotel reservations were quite challenging during this period. We decided to visit the iconic International Market Place for the first time since its major makeover. It's conveniently located just a short walk from our hotel. Nestled in the heard of Waikiki, the International Market Place (IMP) is a premier shopping, dining, and entertainment hub. The International Market Place (IMP) in Waikiki stands as a testament to over 60 years of vibrant history, seamlessly weaving together Hawaiian culture, history, and modern shopping. The site hosts cultural performances and events, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Hawaiian traditions and history. Free O Na Lani Sunset Stories Hula Show on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This open-air shopping center blends modern luxury with island's rich history, offering visitors a unique blend of world-class retail stores, exceptional dining experiences, and vibrant cultural attractions. The newly improved International Market Place in Waikiki officially opened on August 25, 2016. The Banyan Tree serves as a centerpiece for the market, symbolizing the area's heritage. Planted in the mid-1800s, the focal point banyan tree is over 160 years old. On our way back to the hotel, I couldn't help but be curious about the food trucks in the area.
