5. A Guide to the Book of Heaven | Steve Patton
🌟 In this profound and deeply theological session, we welcome author and scholar Steve Patton from the USA to discuss his remarkable book, A Guide to the Book of Heaven. Steve shares his personal journey from law into theology, how he encountered the writings of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, and why he felt called to write a guide that places the Divine Will spirituality firmly within Sacred Scripture, Catholic Tradition, the Magisterium, and the mystical theology of the Church. This is the fifth video of the Divine Will Study Day on 15 May 2026. Together, we explore key themes from the book, including obedience to the Church, the role of private revelation, the teachings of St. John of the Cross, the transforming union, the Hours of the Passion, the eternal dimensions of acts done in the Divine Will, and how the writings of Luisa must always be interpreted in harmony with authentic Catholic doctrine. One of the highlights of the session is Steve’s powerful analogy using Albert Einstein and the famous equation E=MC². Steve explains that Einstein did not create a new truth, but rather discovered and revealed something that had always existed within creation. In the same way, the spirituality of living in the Divine Will is not a “new revelation” added to the deposit of faith, but a deeper unveiling of treasures already contained within Divine Revelation and the life of the Church. Just as scientists progressively uncover the hidden laws of the universe, the Church continually penetrates more deeply into the mysteries already given by Christ. Steve also presents his beautiful “fruit tree” analogy to explain the organic development of Divine Will spirituality within the Church. A tree begins as a tiny seed containing within it the potential for an entire forest. Likewise, the truths contained in Divine Revelation unfold gradually across history as humanity and the Church mature enough to receive them. He explains that authentic revelations must grow organically from the life of the Church, just as healthy fruit grows naturally from a living tree. Anything disconnected from the roots and tradition of the Church is like mistletoe attached to a tree — externally impressive perhaps, but ultimately not part of the life flowing from its roots. The session further explores how Luisa’s writings illuminate the “eternal horizons” of God’s Divine Life, allowing souls to participate more deeply in Christ’s own acts through the Divine Will. Steve beautifully explains how private revelation acts like a magnifying glass focusing the rays of the sun: it does not replace the sun, but helps souls appreciate more fully the treasures already revealed through Christ and His Church. This conversation is rich with theological depth, practical spirituality, and profound reverence for the authority of the Church. It is especially valuable for priests, theologians, spiritual directors, and all those seeking a balanced and faithful understanding of the Divine Will. The session concludes with a moving prayer asking for the intercession of Luisa, St. Hannibal Di Francia, and Our Blessed Mother. ⏱️Chapters 00:00 Introduction & Welcome to Steve Patton 00:48 Discovering A Guide to the Book of Heaven 02:08 Why the Book Is Important for Priests & Theologians 03:48 Steve Patton’s Background in Law & Theology 04:50 Early Questions & Controversies Around Luisa’s Writings 06:38 Why Steve Wrote the Book 08:18 Interpreting the Divine Will Within Catholic Teaching 10:38 Private Revelation & the “New Sun” Analogy 12:18 Luisa’s Writings as a Magnifying Glass 13:10 Academic Theology & Accessibility of the Divine Will 16:24 Reading the Book’s Conclusion 18:45 Awaiting the Church’s Critical Edition of Luisa’s Writings 20:28 Eternal Horizons & the Transforming Union 24:18 St. John of the Cross on Hidden Treasures in Christ 27:14 Catechism 521 — Living What Christ Lived 28:43 Einstein Analogy: Discovering What Was Always There 33:41 Fruit Tree Analogy & Organic Development in the Church 37:12 Why Authentic Divine Will Spirituality Must Remain Obedient 39:38 Confession, Praying the Rosary and Communion 41:18 Divine Light in Interpreting Luisa’s Writings 45:28 Living in the Divine Will — Practical Spirituality 48:48 The Hours of the Passion Explained 52:26 Bilocation, Trans-Temporality & Divine Acts 56:08 Question: Experiencing Christ’s Sufferings in Prayer 57:48 Participating in Past, Present & Future Through the Divine Will 1:00:14 Padre Pio Example & God Outside Time 1:01:04 Final Reflections & Gratitude 1:01:53 Closing Prayer #luisapiccarreta #divinewill #bookofheaven #catholic #spiritual
