We Bought 5 “Untested” Consoles on eBay… Did We Get Lucky?

🎮 Restored retro consoles are now available from IFX Retro Games: https://ifxretrogames.com We bought five “untested” consoles from eBay and put every one of them to the test. This haul included three Sega Genesis systems, a PlayStation 2, and an original Xbox—and judging by the packaging, we weren’t sure what would survive. One Genesis arrived trapped inside a quarter-inch cocoon of plastic wrap. Another was packed with Target shopping bags. The original Xbox showed signs of water damage, and the PS2 came with an unexpected game still inside. We test each console to find out what powers on, what reads games, and what needs to be repaired. The results were much better than expected, although we still uncovered flaky controller ports, a loose Genesis power connector, a faulty PS2 disc drive, and some of the worst replacement disc-drive bezels we’ve ever seen. Were these “untested” consoles a great eBay score—or did we just inherit a pile of future repair projects?
