The Rebel Puppeteers of Sudan | Op-Docs

This week’s Op-Doc is Roopa Gogineni’s “The Rebel Puppeteers of Sudan.” Filmed in that country’s remote Nuba Mountains, the film tells the story of a resourceful group of journalists and a drama collective who banded together to create “Bisha TV,” a satirical web series that mocks the cruelty of Sudan’s repressive leadership. Not only a comedy show born amid conflict and oppression, the series is a rare outlet for commentary from the Nuba Mountains. As one of the puppeteers says, “We’re showing what actually happens.” More from The New York Times Video: Subscribe: http://bit.ly/U8Ys7n Watch all of our videos here: http://nytimes.com/video Facebook:   / nytvideo   Twitter:   / nytvideo   ---------- Whether it's reporting on conflicts abroad and political divisions at home, or covering the latest style trends and scientific developments, New York Times video journalists provide a revealing and unforgettable view of the world.
