The Maid Behind The Bar - a reel in D Major tabbed for mandolin and played by Aidan Crossey

"The Maid" is a tune which many players have come to grow weary of over the years. One of those tunes which people learn early in their playing and play to death in the first few sessions they attend until it starts to grate. And yet I was reminded a few days ago by an email contact that not everyone has had my opportunities to play tunes such as this to death - and would leap at the chance. Said email contact mentioned a number of tunes that he would like me to record and tab out for him so he could play along... The Maid Behind The Bar was top of his list. I approached the tune with some trepidation. However it must be ten or more years since I last played it and I found there were nuanced ways of playing it which didn't occur to me when we were last acquainted. So this represents how, in early 2021, I would play the tune. No doubt I'll have a different take on it in another ten or fifteen years! Notated, tabbed for mandolin and played on his G&O #34 mandolin by Aidan Crossey.
