Toyota 4WD/2WD Ball Joint Spacers
Unpacking the latest batch of Toyota ball joint spacers and talking about how they work. My company used to resell these parts designed and mfg. by San Diego Of Road Innovations (SDORI). We later acquired the product line from SDORI and now have the parts manufactured for us by US shops. So these parts are designed and built in the US. This has been quite a successful product line for us. These ball joint spacers provide a useful amount of suspension lift to allow the 4WD trucks to fit 31" - 33" tall tires. They are far less cost and time to install compared to a full 4" "bracket" lift kit which was the common recipe for 33" tires back in the day. These parts fit with our motto of "Lift as much as you need but as little as possible". Along those lines, we encourage customers to not crank in that maximum possible lift with spacers and torsion bar adjustment combined. Rather, go with as little lift as is possible and then take measures like trimming inner fenders to clear tires, using a narrower wheel and tire to limit chances of tire rubbing. We offer a front differential (and sway bar) drop kit for the 4WD trucks to help lower operating angles on CV joints. We offer upgraded idler arms with bronze bushings to beef up the steering subsystem. It's important to carefully check for component binding at the extremes of suspension travel. Make sure the CV joints aren't binding at full droop and full steering lock. Make sure ball joints are not binding at full droop. Make sure the shock absorber isn't limiting up or down travel.
