Dadar is a neighborhood located in the city of Mumbai, India. The area was primarily a large sprawling agricultural village until the late 19th century. The Dadar-Matunga-Wadala-Sion plan of 1899-1900, which was the first planned development in the city, transformed Dadar from a village to a residential and commercial neighborhood. The plan was designed to ease congestion in the central part of the city, and it led to the construction of new roads, public transportation, and housing. Dadar has a rich cultural heritage and is known for its art deco buildings and its famous flower market, the Dadar Flower Market. The area is also known for the historic Shivaji Park, which is the largest park in Mumbai, and the Dadar Chowpatty beach which is a popular spot for locals and tourists.
