FRESH BRUTS PHASE 1 (Design 7) Case Studies of Architecture School, Brutalism & Leandro Locsin

My studio just got engaged (again, hehe, with pleasure) by the Center for Campus Art or CCA to respond to the upcoming exhibition of the Philippine's National Artist, Leandro Locsin. The CCA event will be curated by Ar. Gerry Torres who also set the program and typology to design a multi-storey architecture school for DLS-CSB. The proposed site is owned by the De La Salle institution located just a stone's throw away from the the current architecture program facilities. We are already on Week 5 when the task was given to us. It is my first time to interface with these new students this term and with the few weeks I have gotten to know them, I sense potential, right work ethic and good attitude towards studio culture. This is the main reason why I accepted the offer because I want these students to have an opportunity and experience of a real, legitimate, formal public exhibition and inspire them to deliver the best design project they can produce. Last Saturday, my students were gracious enough to accept this challenge and change of weekly submission hahah. So the video shows how much they've done as a group and individually (as a team of 2) to initialize the studies while we don't have the full project brief yet. In this session, (as I have given these requirements while on the threadmill last weeked haha) I asked them to prepare initial site studies, data research, program and organization flowchart of the program, architecture case studies overseas, and form finding (even without the proper brief yet) using sktechup to have fun ("assumptions" exercse) so they can warm-up and immerse in the project. Posting this video as requested for reference by my students as I prepare another tasks for next week. It is also good look forward documenting this journey with them because it has been a while! Let's hope next week, I will have the tenacity to document our session crit so I can post it here. hehe
