'BEING PRESENT – MOKOAN: Wet'
This work features images and sounds collected by the three artist’s contact with Mokoan in north eastern Victoria (Mokoan is also known as Winton Wetlands) during 'wet' phases of this ephemeral wetlands. Victoria Cooper and Doug Spowart – concept, photography and visual montage video. Bree Marchbank- created the sound/audio composition. The work was presented at a NAIDOC week celebration event at the site on July 10, 2026. The artists acknowledge the traditional lands of the Yorta Yorta people and their 8 clans who are the original owners of Country. We respect their deep and enduring connection to their lands and waterways and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We honour and respect their ancestors, their Elders past, present and emerging. Thanks also to Nikki James for her support.
