Before You Move Off Grid in Arizona… You NEED to Know This

Thinking about buying a piece of land and living off the grid in Arizona? Before you load up the RV, buy a shed, install some solar panels and disappear into the desert… there are a few things you might want to know. In this video, I just walk around Bonita Valley Ranch, get a few things done, and talk about some of the realities of living completely off the grid in Southeast Arizona. Can you legally live in your RV on your property? Do you need permits? Can you turn a shed into a house? What about septic? Where is your water going to come from? And before you spend your money on that perfect piece of desert land… have you actually checked to see if you can do the things you’re dreaming about doing? These are the questions you need to ask FIRST. But there’s another side to off-grid living that rules and permits don’t cover. It’s hot out here. It’s windy. The nearest parts and supplies can be a long way away. Things break. Roads get muddy. Some days you’re exhausted before the real work even starts. And sometimes… it can be downright lonely. At night, when you’re miles from town and the desert goes completely dark, you realize just how isolated you really are. There are storms, snakes, wildlife and moments when things can honestly feel a little scary. Can you handle that? We’ve learned a lot building our off-grid life here at Bonita Valley Ranch. We’ve made mistakes, changed plans and figured things out one problem at a time. This isn’t a video telling you NOT to live off grid. It’s a video telling you to know what you’re getting into… because if this life is really for you, it can also be one of the most rewarding adventures you’ll ever take.
