American M51 Entrenching Tool

This video will be on one of my favorite American entrenching tools that a lot of people don’t seem to know existed. This is the American m51 entrenching tool. This entrenching tool can put during the Korean War to fill the need for a bigger heavier entrenching and fortifying tool. The current issued at the time of the Korean War was the wwii m43 style folding entrenching tool. The m51 is longer, heavier, has a thicker blade that is spade shaped again like the m1910. This tool also includes a folding matic tool on the reverse side of the handle from the blade. This entrenching tool wouldn’t replace the m43 with infantry use but would supplement the m43 and be used a lot by engineers and people who needed a larger more study entrenching tool. This would serve until 80’s on vehicles and stuff but would largely be replaced during the Vietnam war by the tri fold entrenching tool still in use as of 2021.
