Most Difficult Egg Rescue Ever

Even before this sweet little duckling was born, I had to come to the rescue… twice! 30 years of incubating eggs, and this was the most difficult save. But she made it… *I’m so happy to announce my Merchandise shop has gone live! Have a look and let me know what you think! All eggs need to loose weight during incubating, but some just don’t. What most often works is bringing down the humidity, or scratching it with sandpaper. What is important is to cool the eggs (especially waterfowl) for some minutes a day. But some eggs just don’t loose the needed ten percent. And those eggs usually just don’t make it. Now, although it felt weird to do so and since they die without intervention anyway, I started to experiment on the egg and made a small hole in the egg. Usually this would be a threat because of bacteria entering… but I had to do something if this chick were to stand any chance at all. Disclaimer:  I don’t breed with these ducks… but I do like to give them a chance to live.  Please if you incubate eggs… don’t help with hatching before you ate absolutely sure you don’t have a choice.
