Vieux Farka Touré - the “Hendrix of the Sahara” Born in 1981 in Niafunké, Mali, Vieux Farka Touré inherited not only the musical gift of his father, the legendary Ali Farka Touré, but also a deep love for Malian traditions. Although his father preferred to see him take a different path, Vieux could not ignore his calling. His 2007 debut album, featuring a final recording by his father, was the start of an impressive career. With virtuoso guitar playing and a powerful, rhythmic blend of traditional Malian music, desert blues, rock and Latin American influences, Vieux has a sound all his own. Collaborations with artists such as Khruangbin, Idan Raichel and Dave Matthews demonstrate his versatility and ability to bring musical worlds together. At the same time, he remains committed to Mali's musical legacy and future. An inspired musician, deeply rooted in tradition, but always on the move.
