Drammens glemte festning fra 1905 - Kanonene i Bragernesåsen

Join me on a historical tour of Bragernesåsen in Drammen! In this video, I take a trip up to Øvre and Nedre Skanse to take a closer look at an exciting piece of local history that many people might pass by in their everyday lives. In 1905, relations between Norway and Sweden were very tense, and as part of the defense of the capital and the valleys, several fortifications were built. Here in Drammen, Bragernesåsen was chosen as a strategic point, and the redoubts stand there to this day as monuments to a time when war almost happened. I look at the impressive granite walls, talk a little about the history behind the dissolution of the union, and enjoy the beautiful nature and views over Drammen. Have you been here yourself, or do you know of other hidden historical places in the area? Feel free to share them in the comments! 📌 Chapters in the video: 0:00 Intro and tour start 1:15 The story of 1905 and the dissolution of the union 3:00 Arriving at Nedre Skanse4:45 We explore the old walls at Øvre Skanse 6:30 Summary and view of Drammen 📸 Images and historical material in the video are taken from: Nynorsk Wikipedia (nn.wikipedia.org) Bergen University Library DigitaltMuseum (digitaltmuseum.no) #Drammen #Bragernesåsen #Localhistory #Norwegianhistory #OutOnTur #1905 #Skansene #Tour in Drammen #Unionsopplossing #Fortning #Warhistory #NorwegianHistory
