Economics Session with the Dismayed Economists, conceived by Léo Charles, Senior Lecturer in Economics, University of Rennes 2, Member of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research in Societal Innovations, Member of the Dismayed Economists The neoliberal globalization that took hold in the early 1980s is nearing the end of its cycle. Built around a dominant social bloc encompassing multinational corporations, international financial institutions, and neoliberal states, it does not appear to have lived up to its promises. By accumulating insurmountable internal contradictions, it is now proving to be the driving force behind problematic instabilities for the regulation of global trade. Therefore, what are the possible reconfigurations of globalization? Above all, what new dominant bloc can emerge to build this new phase? From the return of interventionist states to social movements driven by environmental issues, or the emergence of countries in the Global South, is a more resilient and egalitarian globalization possible?
